Bhishma Raj Angdembe, leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress parliamentary party, has expressed disagreement with the recommendation for the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner. Angdembe, who is also a member of the Constitutional Council, has expressed dissatisfaction with the working style adopted by the Prime Minister and Constitutional Council Chairman Balendra Shah in the process of recommending the vacant Chief Election Commissioner and Commissioner of the Election Commission. He expressed his principled disagreement with the Prime Minister's style, saying that while a dialogue style should be adopted with the council members while making appointments to constitutional bodies, he has not done so.
In the council's meeting on Friday, Angdembe said that the sensitive constitutional body Election Commission should not remain vacant for a long time but that sufficient discussions should be held with the council members before moving forward with the appointment process. The council meeting held on Friday has recommended Man Bahadur Karki (Morang) for appointment as the Chief Election Commissioner. The council meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers decided to recommend Karki's name as the Chief Election Commissioner.
