Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Poudel has said that the government is not in a position to do anything immediately in the aviation industry of Nepal.

At a dialogue program on the economic stability and security of the Nepali aviation industry organized at the ministry on Monday, he made it clear that the government is not in a position to invest in Nepal's aviation sector on its own. Minister Poudel also said that since the country's development is not possible without strengthening Nepal's aviation industry, the government has planned to move forward by focusing on the debate with the relevant parties for the development of that sector.

He claimed that the government has also moved forward with the work of fulfilling the policy, legal and safety-related standards regarding the lifting of the ban on flights in the EU's skies.

'We have seen the aspiration to bring in the number of tourists. We keep making plans and policies accordingly. But looking at the situation in the aviation sector, that is not visible. There are also more complaints from the company partners. It seems that it is getting worse rather than getting better,' he said. 'On the other hand, there is no situation where the government itself wants to warm up again. I learned in the course of 3 months that it is complicated by many things. We are of the opinion that this must be overcome in some way or the other.'

He said that the development of this country is not possible without strengthening the aviation industry. 'Primarily, we all know that we are currently banned in the skies of the EU. To lift that ban, we will have to make many policy and legal reforms. We will have to meet many other safety standards,' he said.
