Makawanpur police have arrested an escaped prisoner involved in theft. According to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, on Asad 20, about 1 tola of gold, 25.5 tola of silver (15 coins) and Rs 400,000 in cash were stolen from the house of Krishna Prasad Gautam in Campdanda, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-7 when no one was there.
During the investigation of the incident, the police have taken into custody 25-year-old Manoj Pulami Magar, a permanent resident of Ramechhap Himaganga Rural Municipality-4 and currently living in Hetauda-15 Farline. The police have said that stolen silver coins, gold-like ornaments, other valuables and cash were recovered during a search of his room.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Pulami was also a prisoner who had escaped from Bhimphedi Prison during the Gen-G movement. He has been kept at the District Police Office, Makawanpur for necessary action and further investigation is underway.
The police have requested the public not to keep large amounts of cash and jewelry at home, to inform neighbors or relatives when leaving the house empty, and to install CCTV wherever possible.
