Health workers at the Municipal Hospital and the Basic Health Center under the municipality of Aathbiskot have resigned en masse. They submitted a collective resignation letter to the municipality on Wednesday, saying that they had submitted various demands related to services and facilities to the municipality but they were not met.
Kaviram Sirpali, one of those who submitted his resignation, said that he had submitted a 5-point demand to the municipality on Asad 30 but it was ignored. They are demanding that the salaries and incentive allowances as mentioned in the government's latest budget speech should be maintained, that there should be additional facilities for working outside office hours, that inequality among employees of the same rank should end, that the risk allowance for laboratory employees should be increased by 25 percent, and that they should be affiliated with the Citizen Investment Fund. "We were forced to resign after our demands were not heard," said Sirpali.
Most of the contract health workers are working at the municipal hospital, so the services here have been affected. It is said that patients are currently being treated at the hospital through non-contractual employees.
In this regard, Aathbiskot Mayor Ravi KC said that the health workers have demanded an increase in services and facilities, but due to lack of financial resources, it is not possible to fulfill the mentioned demands. “We will sit down with them and discuss it once and come to a conclusion on how to move forward,” he said.
