UML Vice President and former Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel was arrested from Surkhet on Monday. He had come to Surkhet to participate in a program organized by the Election Review and Party Reorganization Suggestions Collection Task Force in Birendranagar. He was arrested by a team from the District Police Office on Monday.
Poudel was arrested as per a letter sent by the Money Laundering Investigation Department to the District Police Office, said SSP Santosh Singh Rathore, spokesperson for the Provincial Police Office. “The department had written to the District Police after receiving information that he was in Surkhet,” he said. He said that preparations are underway to send him to Kathmandu after completing the necessary documents.
The task force is collecting suggestions in all provinces. The eighth meeting of the UML Secretariat held on 10th Jestha had formed a 15-member task force under the coordination of Vice President Ram Bahadur Thapa. Poudel along with Thapa had reached Surkhet on Monday morning to participate in the program.
