UML Vice President and former Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel has been arrested. According to Home Ministry sources, Poudel was arrested from Surkhet on Monday for a money laundering investigation. The Money Laundering Investigation Department was investigating Poudel. He was arrested by Surkhet police on the basis of the department's arrest warrant. According to Karnali Province DIG Jayaraj Sapkota, Poudel has been kept at the District Police Office Surkhet. Preparations are being made to send him to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. Security officials are in discussions on this matter. The police said that discussions are underway on whether to send him by land or by plane from Surkhet to Nepalgunj and from there to Kathmandu. Poudel had reached Surkhet on Sunday for the UML's internal election review and organizational restructuring program.
