The general convention will be jointly inaugurated by President Rabi Lamichhane and senior leader Balendra Shah: General Secretary Shah

We have selected Chitwan as the venue for the first general convention as it is the birthplace of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Chitwan is also the birthplace of the RSSS, which emerged from a movement.

The first general convention of the National Independent Party (NISP) is being held at the Guest House Chowk in Chitwan from Sunday. Representatives and central leaders from all over the country are continuing to come to Chitwan to participate in the general convention. In the meantime, NISP General Secretary Bhupdev Shah has arrived in Chitwan. An excerpt from a conversation between Kantipur Television representative DP Upadhyay and General Secretary Shah on the preparations for the general convention:

How are you viewing the first general convention of NISP?

I have viewed the first general convention of NISP as a way to reform, improve and make the party stronger.

Why was the decision made to hold the general convention in Chitwan?

Since it is the birthplace of NISP, we have selected Chitwan as the venue for the first general convention. Chitwan is also the birthplace of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which emerged from a movement. The biggest celebration for the party is the general convention, which is why Chitwan was chosen. After discussing which place would be best in Chitwan, Guest House Chowk was chosen.

When will all the general convention delegates arrive?

We have a subcommittee to look into the management of the general convention delegates. The subcommittee will finalize all the issues related to the delegates by tonight. The central committee meeting to be held in Chitwan tomorrow will take a further decision on the delegates. More than 3,000 general convention delegates will come to Chitwan. They will arrive by tomorrow evening.

How are the preparations for the inauguration of the first general convention going on?

Our two main leaders, President Ravi Lamichhane and senior leader and Prime Minister Balendra Shah, are preparing to start the inauguration ceremony by ringing the bell.

Will Prime Minister Shah stay in Chitwan throughout the general convention or will he return after the inauguration?

The Prime Minister will be present here whenever necessary for the general convention. He will remain in Chitwan until the closed session after the inauguration.

Will Prime Minister Shah address the inaugural ceremony or not?

He will address the inaugural ceremony.

What is the possibility of elections in the general convention?

Just as we all came together during the election and the voters voted close to two-thirds, we plan to select representatives through consensus. Even if we cannot reach an agreement, our friends will come competitively through the democratic system.

Will you be re-elected as the General Secretary?

I am currently the General Secretary and I am thinking of re-election to this post. Since the election code of conduct has been implemented, it is not possible to say whether or not I will be re-elected to this post.
