Kathmandu District Court has allowed the withdrawal of the organized crime case against Rastriya Swatantra Party President Ravi Lamichhane.
The bench of Judge Atmadev Joshi has ordered the withdrawal of the organized crime case as per Lamichhane's application. The bench has ordered the withdrawal of the organized crime charges against Lamichhane and the defendants as per Section 36 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 2074 BS. The bench has ordered the continuation of Lamichhane's cooperative fraud charges.
Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, GB Rai and others were made defendants in the Swarnalakshmi cooperative fraud case in Kathmandu.
Based on the complaint of Suman Khanal and others, the District Government Attorney's Office, Kathmandu, had filed an application to amend the charge sheet in the cooperative fraud and organized crime case in which the Government of Nepal is the plaintiff and Lamichhane and others are the defendants. Earlier, the Parsa and Rupandehi courts had allowed the withdrawal of the money laundering and organized crime cases.
Rai and Lamichhane were jointly fined Rs 58.69 million. Joshi was individually fined Rs 57.896 million.
