A bench of Special Court Judges Sudarshan Dev Bhatta, Dilli Ratna Shrestha, and Bidur Koirala has ruled that Kamal Raj Gautam, an officer (8th level) of the Transport Management Office, Driver's License, Parsa, will be found guilty in a corruption case.

The Special Court has found Kamal Raj Gautam, an officer of the Transport Management Office, Driver's License, Parsa (Eighth Level), guilty in a corruption case. The bench of Special Court Judges Sudarshan Dev Bhatta, Dilli Ratna Shrestha and Vidur Koirala pronounced the verdict of finding him guilty.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case in the Special Court on Ashad 3, 2082 on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Rs 25.178 crore while he was in office from 2055 to 2079 BS.

The CIAA had claimed that Gautam's legal total income was Rs 28.9 crore, while Rs 54 crore was spent on house construction, land purchase, vehicles, loan repayment for Janak education materials, share purchase, investment through banks, gold purchase and insurance.

After finding illegal money of more than Rs 25 million, the CIAA had demanded imprisonment for 3 years along with confiscation of the said amount.

The court has sentenced Gautam to 1 year in prison and a fine of more than 10 million 8 lakh 1 thousand 838 rupees. The court has said in the verdict that the property equivalent to the amount illegally acquired will be confiscated.
