Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said that the government is making preparations for monsoon disaster management on top priority.

He said this while talking to media persons after participating in a meeting on monsoon preparedness and response organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. He said that all resources from helicopters to security agencies will be mobilized to ensure the safety of citizens in the event of natural disasters including floods and landslides. He also informed that security agencies have been mobilized for disaster management.

Minister Gurung said that the work will be done by focusing on the direct safety and rescue of citizens rather than formal inspections. 'The Ministry of Home Affairs is coordinating with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, keeping in mind the risk of traffic disruption due to floods and landslides on road sections under construction, including the East-West Highway, during the monsoon,' he said. 'A special digital system (app) has been developed to provide information on where the necessary dozers and equipment are available to remove road blockages. Through this system, if there is a landslide or road obstruction at any place, arrangements have been made to immediately mobilize the nearest equipment and open the road.'

He said that this will prevent passengers from being stranded on the road for a long time like in the past. Home Minister Gurung pledged to work more effectively this time based on the experience of the damage caused to citizens by natural disasters in the past.

'Our preparedness in disaster management is good, and security agencies have also been deployed accordingly. We have also instructed different co-leads and leads accordingly,' he said, 'The Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, has developed an app to remove landslides in case of any flood or landslide. You will know exactly where the dozers are.'
