Responding to questions raised during the discussion on the appropriation of the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Appropriation Bill, 2083 BS in the House of Representatives' meeting on Thursday, he said that the budget is not just a list of items but a national resolution for good governance, national security and prosperity. 'I express my commitment to invest every rupee of the budget collected from the sweat of the Nepali people in the service of citizens and to strengthen national security,' said Home Minister Gurung. He also informed that additional programs and budget arrangements have been made to boost the morale of security personnel.
Informing that the ministry is making efforts to stop the exploitation of riverine resources, he said that coordination has been done with various ministries. Home Minister Gurung informed that the budget has been allocated to solve the problems of those affected by the Jajarkot earthquake.
Stating that the ministry is working to address the complaints regarding the procurement process of police uniforms, Home Minister Gurung said, 'The ministry has a plan to give the money spent on police uniforms to the police and purchase them themselves, so that no middlemen can manipulate it.'
Home Minister Gurung informed that the ministry is sensitive to investigating the rape and murder incident of Kanchanpur teenager Nirmala Pant. He said that the government is committed to preventing drug trafficking and consumption, cybercrime and misuse of social media.
