Two crowns of 'Hathya Deu', i.e. Akash Bhairav, stolen from the historical heritage settlement of Dolakha 34 years ago, were brought back to Dolakha on Thursday.
Both the crowns of Akash Bhairav, stolen in 2050 and 051 BS, were taken to the US. Heritage conservation campaigners took the initiative to bring back both the crowns of archaeological importance after finding them in an American museum. Both the crowns, which were found in separate museums in America, were returned after submitting evidence.
Both the crowns, which were returned from the American museum in 2080 BS, were kept in the Nepali Army Museum in Chhauni. Both the crowns of Akash Bhairav, stolen from the ancestral home of Nakchhe Pradhan Khalak of Dolakha, were brought back after the army handed them over to the locals, said Stalin Shrestha, chairman of Bhimeshwor Municipality-2. He said that both the Akash Bhairav crowns were brought to Dolakha along with musical instruments. He said that both the crowns were installed by taking them around the city on Thursday.
