The venue of the first central convention of the ruling party Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) in Chitwan has been changed at the last minute.

The opening and closing sessions of the convention, which will last for three days from next Sunday, were planned to be held at Hotel Star in Ratnanagar Nipani. A pandal with a capacity of seven thousand chairs was being prepared for this. But on Monday afternoon, the construction of the pandal was asked to stop.

The party's central member Rajan Gautam said that it has been decided to hold the closing session of the convention at the Exhibition Center in Bharatpur on Tuesday. He said that the opening session will be held in the courtyard of the guest house nearby.

A 30-foot-high bamboo pandal was being built on a vacant land behind Hotel Star, connected to the East-West Mahendra Highway, on a land measuring 300 feet long and 120 feet wide. Akbar Hussain of Akbar Tent House in Narayangadh was constructing the pandal. The upper section was covered with tarpaulin and the bottom was covered with cloth from the inside. The cloth would be 16 feet above the ground.

Due to the extreme heat, there was a plan to install 12 large tent coolers. If such large coolers were needed, there was a plan to add more. ‘We had completed 70 percent of the work yesterday.’ Akbar said.

The Chitwan Industry Association’s exhibition center on Bharatpur Dursanchar Road has three large buildings. One building is 20,000 square feet. The hall of the exhibition center, built for industrial exhibitions, has a capacity of 3,000 people, but the association officials said that it was not suitable for meetings due to problems such as incomprehensibility.

According to Rajan Gautam, who is also the coordinator of the accommodation and food management subcommittee, hotels in Sauraha and Bharatpur will be used for the delegates participating in the general convention. It is estimated that about 1,500 rooms will be required. Gautam said that the delegates will bear the expenses of staying in the hotel themselves.
