‘We have worked jointly in the non-disputed areas, the work has been done successfully in a short period of three months,’ said Gyanendra Bista, an officer of the Survey Department and head of the joint survey team on the Nepal side, ‘We could not work in the disputed and sensitive areas.’ According to him, Nepal is carrying out the maintenance, construction and inspection of the odd-numbered boundary pillars and India is carrying out the work of the even-numbered boundary pillars .
The meeting held in Mahendranagar on Monday was attended by the Chief District Officers of Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula, as well as the heads of the Division Forest Offices and the heads of security agencies from Nepal. The Indian side was attended by the District Officers of Udyamsinghnagar, Champawat and Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand and Lakhimpur, Khiri and Pilibhit districts in Uttar Pradesh, along with the security chiefs.
‘The progress of the joint survey team was reviewed in the meeting,’ said Kanchanpur Chief District Officer Madan Koirala. ‘In the meantime, the joint survey team has been working vigorously in the dispute-free area.’ According to him, this is also a regular meeting.
The survey work has been postponed as the scheduled time of the joint survey team has expired and the rainy season has also begun, said Survey Department Officer Bista. The team formed in Chaitra 2082 had started work from the first week of Chaitra.
