Displaced families taking shelter at the holding center in Kirtipur have protested by banging their plates, saying they are not getting food. Angry after not being able to eat since Monday morning, they protested by banging their plates on the center's gate.

'Our children have not been able to go to school, they are all sitting at the gate banging their plates,' a displaced woman told Kantipur, 'The government has said that they will not provide rice from today, what will we do now?'

The displaced have complained that they are going hungry due to a lack of coordination between the municipality and the relevant ministry. When they tried to understand this, they said that the employees turned away, saying they did not know anything.

Meanwhile, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Police Chief Bishnu Prasad Joshi claimed that the delay in serving food was due to a change in the catering service. 'The catering management is going to change from today,' he said, 'We will serve packet food shortly, and the new management will start working from the evening.'

Residents who were displaced from various squatter settlements on April 12 have been living in a holding center in Kirtipur for months.
