Eight people have died in a passenger bus accident in Buchchakot, Namobuddha Municipality-2, Kavre. 16 people have been injured.
At around 2 pm on Friday, a bus (Ba 3 Kha 8398) heading from Banepa to Sughure in Roshi Rural Municipality-6 fell into a ravine about 300 meters below Buchchakot, informed Chief Superintendent of Police Rabin Karki of the District Police Office, Kavre. The deceased are 4 women and 4 men. He said that the 4 people have been identified.
Those identified are 34-year-old Phul Maya Tamang of Roshi-7, 75-year-old Indra Bahadur Jhankri of Roshi-6, 60-year-old Pyarimaya Tamang of Roshi-6, and 30-year-old Bam Bahadur Bhandari of Dailekh (an employee of the Nepali Army), Karki informed. ‘Initial investigation shows that the bus in which the accident occurred seems to be a bit old, it is speculated that the accident occurred due to that reason,’ he said. There were 24 people on the bus. The injured are being treated at Dhulikhel Hospital.
