Popular social media platforms Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram were down for about an hour a few moments ago. Such disruptions were seen around the world. ‘Downdetector’ has mentioned that these 3 Meta platforms are down.
Users in Nepal also experienced this problem. The Messenger app was automatically logged out when running. Only old posts were displayed instead of new content in Facebook's feed. When trying to open some links, an 'unknown error has occurred' message was received. According to USA Today, such a 'query error' was seen when Facebook was unable to pull information from Meta's servers. Meta's communications director Andy Stone confirmed the disruption of the platforms through the social network X. He mentioned that the company is aware that many users are having trouble using the service. Stone said that the technical team is currently working to resolve the problem. According to
Downdetector, millions of users have reported problems with Facebook and Instagram at the same time. This problem has also been reported in countries including the US, the Philippines and India, and users there are also reporting it.
According to data report, the number of Facebook users in Nepal is 14.8 million, Messenger users are 11 million, and Instagram users are 4.35 million. Overall, there are 14.8 million social media users in Nepal, or about 50 percent of the total population.
