A couple has been arrested in Bardiya on charges of fraud in the name of a non-existent government office. Police have arrested 24-year-old Ghanashyam Neupane of Thakurbaba Municipality-3 and 23-year-old Kripa Chaudhary of Dang Lamahi Municipality-5. Neupane and Chaudhary are husband and wife.

Police have arrested them on charges of fraud by opening a government office in the name of 'Praganna and Badkapath Irrigation Department Thakurbaba Municipality-3 Bardiya, Tikapur, Lamki' in Baganaha Bazaar of Thakurbaba Municipality-3.

They are accused of defrauding the landlord by appointing locals as employees on the pretext of employing them in various jobs and not paying them wages. It has been revealed that they have forged government documents and seals, signed and stamped appointment letters, and also taken money by claiming that they would pay after the funds were released.

The accused Neupane had cheated the landlord by claiming that he was the seventh-level officer (office head) of his office. DSP Resham Bohara informed that both of them have been taken into custody and an investigation is underway into fraud and forgery of documents.
