The Cabinet meeting has decided to accept the investigation report on former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung. The Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday is set to accept the report of former Justice Achyut Prasad Bhandari.

About three weeks later, on 28 Baisakh, the Cabinet meeting formed an investigation committee under the leadership of former High Court Justice Bhandari. The committee included Comptroller General Shobha Kant Poudel and Associate Attorney Achyutmani Neupane. The committee gave a 'clean chit' to Gurung. The government has also made preparations to return him to the Home Ministry today. According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, preparations are underway to swear in Gurung as the Home Minister today. The committee formed to investigate the assets of former Home Minister and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) MP Gurung submitted its report to Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Friday.  The committee had reported that there was nothing unusual in the assets and income.
