The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) Siraha district convention has become controversial. The convention is in dispute over the issue of selecting the district leadership.

The controversy has increased after lawmakers interfered in the convention underway in Siraha's Zero Mile. Subhash Yadav, Ramsogarath Yadav and current president Hari Mainali are the aspirants for the presidency in this convention.

After the open session of the convention on Sunday, Siraha 4 MP Tapeshwor Yadav, who is also the Madhesh Province President of the RSWP, Constituency No. 2 MP Shiva Yadav, Constituency No. 1 MP Bablu Gupta, Constituency No. 3 MP Shambhu Yadav and proportional representation MP Purushottam Yadav tried to reach a consensus on one of these names.

However, the efforts to unanimously select the working committee were not successful due to the respective stances of the MPs and presidential aspirants. When this did not happen, the election committee issued a notice informing that the leadership would be selected through the election and the process would begin from 10 am on Monday. Central election representative Indrajit Prasad Mahato had pasted the notice.

However, on Sunday midnight, the majority of the MPs secretly met and selected a working committee under the leadership of Ramsogarath Yadav and sent a letter to the election committee to recognize it, according to District President Mainali.

Due to which tension has now been created at the convention venue and dissatisfied leaders and workers have launched a protest. Current District President Mainali said that the MPs played an undemocratic game to capture the party and this has brought disrepute to the party.

Another presidential candidate, Subhash Yadav, has also said that the role of the MPs trying to interfere is objectionable. He said that it is unacceptable to recommend the name of any one person when the process for selecting the leadership through a democratic process has already progressed.

According to Subhash, the candidate Ram Sogarath Yadav himself had reached the election committee with the letter recommending his name by the MPs. However, it is not clear which MPs signed it, but he said that there is suspicion on the MPs who have switched off their mobile phones and are out of contact.

Meanwhile, a woman in the election committee has stated that consultations are being held on the issue after an internal dispute escalated and a decision on whether to proceed with the election process or postpone it will be taken only after the Center's instructions.
