Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has started meetings immediately after arriving in New Delhi on Friday. His first meeting was with India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. According to sources, the meeting between Khanal and Doval took place after 5 pm at the 'Sewa Tirtha' building, which also houses the Prime Minister's Office.
Minister Khanal, who is staying at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi, reached Sewa Tirtha from the hotel. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) President Ravi Lamichhane, who had arrived at the invitation of the Bharatiya Janata Party, also stayed at the same hotel.
Khanal landed in Delhi while Lamichhane was returning after completing his five-day visit. Lamichhane and Khanal, who were returning to Kathmandu, also met briefly at the 'Ceremonial Lounge' of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Lamichhane returned to Kathmandu on the Nepal Airlines plane that Khanal reached.
He went on an official visit to Delhi at the invitation of Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. A bilateral meeting with his counterpart Jaishankar will be held on Saturday. Khanal is also likely to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Modi.
