A massive fire broke out at the Triveni Spinning Mill, a yarn manufacturing mill located in Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-9 on the Birgunj-Pathlaiya Tribhuvan Highway on Friday. Superintendent of Police Narendra Kunwar said that the fire, which was caused by an electrical short circuit, destroyed the machines, physical structures and fibers worth crores of rupees in the industry.
12 fire engines were used to control the fire along with the mobilization of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police. 12 fire engines were used from Birgunj Metropolitan City, Jitpursimara and Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan Cities, Simara Airport, Hetauda, Nijgadh, Kolhabi, Mahagadhimai, Nijgadh Municipality, Khutwa Prasauni Rural Municipality, Amlekhgunj Oil Corporation, among others.
The fire has now been brought under control, Superintendent of Police Kunwar said. The fire destroyed 180 tons of ready-made cotton, buildings, condensers, MBEO machines, fibers, and MO machines. The fire, which broke out at 11 am, was brought under control after 4 hours, said Min Bahadur Ghale, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office. He said that a full report of the damage is being collected.
