Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has said that the people have not yet been able to feel that the state and government are for them. Speaker Aryal said this while addressing the ninth district assembly organized by the District Coordination Committee Kavrepalanchok in Dhulikhel on Thursday. He said that even after a long time since the promulgation of the constitution, necessary laws have not been made, citizens have not been able to easily get justice, and the sense of belonging to the state has not developed sufficiently. He opined that laws should now be made based on the needs and people's wishes and that the timely constitution amendment process should be taken forward. 'Constitution amendment is indispensable to address the feelings of the new generation, the changing situation of society, and the needs of the country,' he said. Speaker Aryal stressed that national consensus is needed on issues like constitution amendment and all political parties should move forward unitedly. He said that common understanding and cooperation are indispensable to move the country towards stability and prosperity.
He claimed that an environment will be created in the coming days where the people will feel that the state and the government are for themselves. He also said that the government is committed to creating a situation where employees can work with self-respect.
Speaker Aryal said that in the current situation, the District Coordination Committee should be made more effective. He clarified that there will be a comprehensive discussion on the needs, rights and future of the District Coordination Committee during the constitutional amendment.
The program was attended by people's representatives of the district, heads of government offices, representatives of political parties and stakeholders.
