Police have arrested Om Prasad Pandey, the chairman of Ram Janaki Health Foundation.

A team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested him from Janaki Medical College in Chireshwornath-1, Ramadiya, Dhanusha, said SSP Shiv Kumar Shrestha. Pandey is also the chairman of Janaki Medical College. As mentioned on the college's website, this medical college is being run by Janakari Health Foundation.

This medical college under Tribhuvan University was established in 2003.

The police had obtained permission from the Patan High Court to arrest Pandey on 12 December.

‘It is seen that he took a loan by setting up an artificial business called Institute of Agriculture Forest and Veterinary Science Pvt. Ltd. without a DPR and by unnaturally overvaluing the collateral,’ Shrestha said, ‘We have started an investigation as he has been involved in an offense under the Banking Offences and Punishments Act, 2064 by repeatedly misusing the loan from Prabhu Bank Limited instead of the purpose for which it was taken.’

Police have stated that further investigation is underway into the incident.
