A fire has broken out at the vehicle section of the Armed Police Force headquarters in Halchowk. An Armed Police Force source told Kantipur that at least five vehicles were burnt in the fire that broke out in the area where the vehicles were parked.

A fire broke out near the office of the Armed Police Force near the barracks building, and some vehicles donated by the US were also burnt. fire brigade reached the headquarters soon after the fire started.

'We were able to control the fire in time, but it could have been much worse because there are important buildings nearby,' said a senior officer of the Armed Police Force.

The cause of the fire has not been revealed. An officer claimed that there was initial information that it may have been an electrical short circuit.
