The government has extended the deadline of the committee formed to investigate former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung by five days. The deadline for the committee formed to investigate public issues, share investments and sources of wealth related to Gurung was till Monday. A member said that the five days were extended at the request of the committee itself.
Achyutmani Neupane said that the committee, chaired by former High Court judge Achyut Prasad Bhandari, has been given an additional five days' time effective from Tuesday. The committee includes Comptroller General Shobha Kant Poudel and Associate Attorney Neupane.
Member Neupane said that the work including taking Sudhan Gurung's statement and studying the facts has been completed and that the time has been requested as there is not enough time to analyze the facts and write a report.
The decision to form the committee was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Baisakh 23. The committee was given 15 days to complete its work.
