A survey of tiger prey species has been started in Chitwan and Parsa National Parks.

The survey of tiger prey species has started from Jestha 1 by making 400 transits in the tiger census area from Triveni to Rautahat in Nawalparasi, said Avinash Thapa Magar, Information Officer of Chitwan National Park.

Jarayo, Chittal, Laguna, Ratuwa, Gaurigai, Wild boar, Nilgai and monkey are tiger prey species. In Shuklaphanta, Banke and Bardiya, Chauka and Bahrasinge are also tiger prey species.

Magar informed that after the survey is completed, the number of prey species will be calculated using the distance selection method. "The study work will begin as soon as the survey in the park is completed," he said, "This will facilitate the study of what can be done to protect the food species necessary for tigers."
