The Parsa District Court has ordered the release of Birgunj Mayor Rajeshman Singh. The bench of District Judge Gayatri Prasad Regmi has ordered the release of Mayor Singh on bail.

According to Mayor Singh's press advisor Nawaraj Phuyal, a bail of Rs 415,000 has been paid on behalf of Singh as requested by the court. According to Parsa District Court Tehsildar Devraj Bhattarai, a case was registered against Mayor Singh for two offences. A bail of Rs 400,000 has been sought for forgery of signature and Rs 15,000 for obtaining citizenship by submitting false details.

He was arrested for investigation in a document-related offence (forgery) case.

The Parsa District Court had issued an arrest warrant against Singh last Tuesday. According to the court order, the police took control of the forest resort in Thori, Parsa at 6:15 am on Tuesday, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Raju Karki, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Parsa.

Singh is accused of helping someone else's daughter obtain citizenship and other government documents by presenting her as his own daughter on the basis of fake documents. The police have stated that an investigation is underway against him under the same charge under the document-related offense.
