The CPN-UML has expressed serious objection to Prime Minister Balendra Shah's border-related remarks made in the parliament meeting on Sunday.

UML Publicity and Publication Department Chief Niraj Acharya has termed the Prime Minister's statement as irresponsible, factual and against the national interest through social media Facebook. Acharya has mentioned that it is extremely regrettable for a person in a responsible position like the Prime Minister to make the statement that 'Nepal has also encroached on the borders of others' from the rostrum of the Parliament.

He wrote, 'It is an extremely irresponsible and shameful statement for a person in a dignified and responsible position like the Prime Minister to say from the rostrum of the Parliament that Nepal has also encroached on the borders of others.'

According to him, the Prime Minister's statement has created confusion as historical documents, maps and facts clearly show the issue of encroachment on Nepal's land. He wrote, 'Historical documents, maps and facts make it clear that Nepal's borders have always been violated and that the violation was done by the neighboring side.'

He said that the statement that blames Nepal itself from the leadership responsible for protecting the geographical integrity and sovereignty of his country is a serious blow to the national interest.

UML has stated that the statement has hurt the feelings of security personnel deployed in border security, experts involved in studies and research related to history and borders, and the general Nepali people. UML believes that the statement made by the Prime Minister on a sensitive issue like national independence and borders is immature and misleading.

UML has corrected the Prime Minister's statement and demanded that the government make a clear statement to the parliament and the general public. In addition, UML has stated that any kind of ambiguity or compromise on issues related to nationality, sovereignty and geographical integrity is not acceptable.
