The National Human Rights Commission has made public a brief excerpt of its report on the investigation into the Gen-G incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadra. The commission has made some excerpts of the report public while sending recommendations to the government on Wednesday.
The commission's report mentions that former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and former Information and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung violated human rights. The commission has also recommended action against them and others according to their responsibilities and roles.
Based on the report of the committee formed to investigate human rights violations in the incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadra under the coordination of commission member Lily Thapa, the commission has identified Oli, Lekhak and Gurung, who were in the government leadership at that time, as human rights violators.
The commission has also recommended that a provision be made for a maximum of 6 months imprisonment or a fine of up to 300,000 rupees or both when making a law to take action in cases of human rights violations. The recommendation also calls for a special court to hear cases of such matters recommended for action by the commission.
