It has been revealed that a prisoner killed two people after escaping from Kaski prison on Bhadra 24 during the Gen-G movement. The District Police Office, Nawalparasi East, has informed that 31-year-old Sanjay BK, who has a criminal background, killed two people on Asoj 19 and Chaitra 23 after escaping from prison. According to the police, Sanjay was convicted of a theft incident on Asad 29, 2072 BS. Not only that, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in Kaski on Mangsir 5, 2080 BS for murder and robbery. After the Kaski murder incident, Sanjay, a permanent resident of Baglung Galkot-9, fled to Gaindakot-10. He stayed in a tent at Shyam Kumari Shrestha's house in Samjhana Chowk. The Kaski police arrested him from Nawalparasi. During the Gen-G demonstration, he fled on Bhadra 24 and returned to Gaindakot. On Asoj 19, 2082, he reached the house of 79-year-old Shyam Kumari. He set fire to the room and looted 5 tolas of gold jewelry, killing Shyam Kumari. The police continued the investigation into the incident but could not find any clues.
Recently, on Chaitra 23, 2082, 75-year-old Jiunram Thanet and 71-year-old Gulbasiniya Thanet were attacked with weapons and robbed of gold jewelry in Tangikot, Devchuli Municipality-10. Jiunram died in the incident, while Gulbasiniya is still undergoing treatment, informed DSP Anil Pandit of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi East.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Gandaki Province Police Office and District Police teams were deployed to investigate the incident. During the investigation, indications were found that the same person was involved in the latest murder and the murder and robbery of Asoj.
DSP Pandit informed that during the investigation, it was found that Sanjay was involved in both the incidents. On April 15, the police arrested Sanjay from Sukedhara in Kathmandu. The police have also arrested Pushpadevi Surpak, 28, of Gaindakot-18 Damar, on charges of aiding him.
According to SP Yubaraj Khadka, Sanjay used to walk around giving different identities depending on the place. SP Khadka informed that an investigation has been initiated on the suspicion that he was involved in other incidents as well.
Sanjay has been sent to jail after the District Court, East Nawalparasi, ordered his detention for remand.
