An arrest warrant has been issued against Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajeshman Singh. The District Court Parsa issued a warrant against Singh on Tuesday for a document-related offense.
DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet, spokesperson of the District Police Office, informed that the arrest warrant issued by the District Court was received at the office on Tuesday. 'The arrest warrant letter was received today,' he said, 'The search process has also been initiated from today.'
According to a district court source, four cases were filed against Mayor Singh, but the arrest was issued for a document-related offense. The arrest warrant was issued as per Schedule (22) for the document-related offense. A complaint was filed that Mayor Singh had issued citizenship to someone else's daughter by making her his daughter on the basis of fake documents.
The court issued the arrest warrant on the same basis. The court has allowed the arrest for a document-related offense based on the complaint of Birgunj local Liaqat Ali. According to the source, Mayor Singh is not in Birgunj at present. According to sources close to Mayor Singh, he has gone to Kathmandu on special metropolitan business.
