The government has formed a committee under the coordination of Sushil Dangol, Deputy Director General of the Survey Department, to study the technical aspects of the border between Bajura and Humla districts and submit a report.
A meeting held at Singha Durbar on 10 Jestha 2083 under the chairmanship of Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration, Pratibha Rawal, decided to form the committee.
The committee will have one representative each from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration, and the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province. Similarly, Prime Minister Balendra Shah's secretariat has stated that the Director of the Survey Department has been given the responsibility of the member-secretary of the committee.
The tension that has arisen between Bajura and Humla since last week continues. Youths from Himali Rural Municipality in Bajura have blocked the Karnali Corridor again on Sunday, alleging that no action has been taken against those involved in the incident.
Due to the blockade of the corridor, transport and transportation vehicles going to Humla have been stopped at Dhulachaur. The road has been blocked again for the third day.
A joint security force has been sent from Bajura to the Ranisain and Lampata areas, which have been tense since last week.
