Supreme Court Justice Sharma presented his action plan for judicial reforms in the Parliamentary Hearing Committee that began on Tuesday morning.
Details of the complaints filed against him and Sharma's action plan have been distributed to the MPs in the Parliamentary Hearing Committee. He also mentioned the achievements to be achieved after the implementation of the action plan. 16 complaints have been filed against Sharma.
Sharma has mentioned in his action plan to ensure judicial good governance, transparency, professional efficiency, impartiality and speedy justice. Restructuring the organizational structure and managing adequate judicial manpower, making the implementation of judgments effective, increasing access to justice, and He has presented an action plan including the establishment of an information technology-friendly court. He has mentioned that the achievements that will be achieved if his action plan is implemented include the realization of the concept of a technology-friendly court by maintaining an appropriate level of use of information technology in judicial service delivery, the resolution of cases within a maximum of 18 months as per the period specified by the different case management system, the establishment of a strong state of easy access to justice and a victim-friendly justice system with compensation. He has also mentioned that the speed, quality and effectiveness of judicial work will be ensured, thereby increasing public trust in the court, and the maintenance of the highest level of judicial good governance, responsibility, accountability and judicial integrity and morality in the judiciary.
He plans to make the judicial appointment process non-controversial, transparent and predictable, and to improve Nepal's standing in line with internationally developed standards of the rule of law through strengthening the independence, capacity and overall judicial function of the judiciary.
The Constitutional Council had recommended Sharma as the 33rd Chief Justice on April 24.
