Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has directed the secretariat to remove unparliamentary and objectionable words used in the House of Representatives meeting from the records of the parliament.
In the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, Speaker Aryal drew the attention of the lawmakers to be sensitive in their expressions as per Rule 121 (d) of the House of Representatives Rules. The said rules prohibit speaking in a meeting in a manner that is rude, obscene, insulting or contrary to public etiquette and morality. In addition, the Speaker also reminded about the provision that no person, caste, religion, language or gender should be denigrated or unparliamentary words should be used.
In this context, Speaker Aryal ordered the removal of some words used by Ganesh Parajuli, deputy leader of the National Independent Party, in the meeting on 29 Baisakh 2080, saying that they were against the rules. The Secretariat has been instructed to remove the phrases ‘baarouteharu’ and ‘as if they were walking naked even though they were wearing clothes’ used by MP Parajuli during her address from the record, stating that they are against the dignity of the Parliament.
Speaker Aryal has cautioned all members to fully adhere to parliamentary decency and rules while expressing their views in the coming days.
