A young man has been murdered in Chitwan over a dispute over his friend's failure to return the money he had borrowed.
Police have arrested his friend on the charge of murdering a young man in Buddha Chowk, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-7, Chitwan on the night of April 22.
Chitwan police have arrested Krishna Bahadur Khadka, a resident of Gaindakot-17, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), and Samrat Gurung, a resident of Syangja Jagat Bhanjyang, Pokhara, on the charge of murdering 30-year-old Ashish Khanal, who worked at Sambhav Auto Workshop in Buddha Chowk. The police arrested them from a hotel in Pokhara on Sunday.
According to Chitwan Police Chief SP Govinda Puri, Ashish, who lives in Saina Maina, Rupandehi, and Krishna Bahadur, who live in Sambhav Auto Workshop, were close friends for 5/6 years. SP Puri said that they both worked together at Sambhav Auto Workshop for about three days. 'Three months ago, they worked together for three days. At that time, Ashish seems to have taken Krishna's money. It is not just that, it has been revealed that he gave a few thousand rupees,' said SP Puri.
After Krishna did not pay the money, Krishna took Ashish's mobile phone. Police said that the dispute escalated after he started asking for the same mobile phone. 'Ashish seems to have called and messaged Krishna repeatedly to ask for the mobile phone and Krishna did not give it. As the dispute escalated, it even led to the murder,' said SP Puri.
Krishna went to argue in a state of intoxication after consuming alcohol and the incident took place, police said. Although Krishna was the main person in the incident, initial investigations showed that Samrat helped Krishna hide and further investigations are underway, said Chitwan Police Spokesperson DSP Ravindra Khanal.
