The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order to stay the implementation of the government's decision to ban the trade union of civil servants.
Three out of five judges in the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court expressed their opinion on the short-term interim order, while two judges wrote a different opinion.
Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, Kumar Regmi and Hari Prasad Phuyal expressed the same opinion in favor of issuing the interim order. Justices Binod Sharma and Sharanga Subedi, however, wrote a different opinion. Since the opinion of the majority of judges will be implemented, the government has decided not to implement the trade union that was abolished.
