E-governance to be strengthened through an integrated digital platform

The government has come up with a plan to strengthen the e-governance system through an integrated digital platform to promote good governance and make public service delivery faster, more transparent and citizen-friendly.

The policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year mentions the principle of ‘using one-time details for all services’. It has been said that an interoperable government database will be developed based on that. In addition, the government has a policy to provide at least 100 government services through an integrated citizen app.

House of Representatives: Attention of opposition parties

In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, opposition party leaders have drawn the government's attention to issues including the management of squatter settlements and ordinances. During the emergency session of the meeting, the lawmakers expressed concern that the ordinance was brought after adjourning the already-called parliament, breaking the prevailing practice and tradition on the recommendation of the future Chief Justice.

Nishkal Rai of the Nepali Congress expressed his disagreement with the government's removal of landless squatters from the settlements without alternative arrangements, expressing his dissenting opinion during the drafting of the new rules of the House of Representatives. 

UML's Padmakumari Aryal urged the government to respect parliamentary dignity and the rule of law and to withdraw the presented ordinances. Yubaraj Dulal of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) commented that the removal of squatter settlements with a short notice of 24 hours did not respect humanity. 

Labor Culture Party Chairman Harkaraj Rai accused the government of remaining silent when India opened a border crossing at Lipulekh and expanded the route to Mansarovar.
