The Kathmandu District Court has rejected the registration of a petition filed against Prime Minister Wallen Shah regarding insults and defamation. The court administration has dismissed the petition filed by Bikal Rai, leader of the Nepal Students' Union (Nevisungh), a sister organization of the Nepali Congress.
Prime Minister Shah had filed the petition alleging that he had addressed 'students who carry the future of the country as sleeper cells' on social media.
Claiming that the words were insulting and defaming the student community, he had demanded action under Sections 306 and 307 of the Criminal Code, 2074 BS.
The petition states that it is an insult when a person holding a responsible position like the Prime Minister uses such words.
