Addressing a special function organized on the occasion of Law Day, President Poudel emphasized the importance of the rule of law and an independent judiciary.
'The law should be fear for the guilty and hope, trust and support for the innocent. We should not forget that if there is a change in the observance and implementation of the system and tradition established by law, human society will start to fear due to its adverse effects,' President Poudel said, 'That is why the holy day is celebrated as Law Day to remember and understand that law and order are both tools and remedies for good governance, peace, prosperity and dignity.'
He said that only by imbibing this essence of Law Day can we imagine a self-reliant and prosperous Nepal. He said, "I wish that this Law Day can provide positive thinking, encouragement and inspiration to everyone to ensure that the common citizen has easy access to justice through the formulation of new laws in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution of Nepal and current needs, and contemporary reforms in the existing laws, using modern methods and technology, ensuring speedy and expeditious justice through expeditious management of cases, maintaining the rule of law and increasing public confidence in the judiciary without allowing judicial values to erode."
