For the past few days, there has been a lot of discussion on social media about Ramsharan Basic School in Judpaniya, Vijayanagar-6, in the district. The poor physical condition of the school in a remote area of the district had also drawn the attention of Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel.

Minister Pokharel has mentioned that he was disturbed by the tragic scene of a teacher giving a bath to a student studying in class 2 at the school in Judpaniya. Minister Pokharel has also expressed his gratitude to the teacher who provided the bath in this way.

According to the school, water was leaking from the roof and window ventilation of the room where the students of class 2 were staying. When the students started getting wet, the teacher brought a large table and placed them under it. A video of the students getting wet under the table was posted on social media. Since the table was small and there were many students, They were jostling and falling asleep.

It rained with gusty winds in Kapilvastu around 1 pm last Monday. After that, school teacher Shambhu BK said that water entered the school classroom.  ‘Water entered all the rooms and the students started getting wet,’ said teacher Nirmala Mahatra Thapa, ‘Then I panicked and started saving the students.’ She said that she gathered the students from kindergarten to grade 3 in the room of class 2 and put them under the table and gave them a bath.  What progress is being made at the school where a video of a student being forced under a table was made public?

‘Suddenly, the students were panicked by the gusty winds, so their brains stopped working,’ she said, ‘I saved the students with the help of the tables and benches for them to study.’  Teacher BK had made a video of the children being given a bath and posted it on Facebook.

The school has now gone viral due to the poignant video. After the video came out, the head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit has already conducted on-site monitoring. Minister Pokharel has also written on his Facebook wall that the relevant bodies are taking initiatives for the construction of a new school building.

Teacher BK said that the video had been viewed 1.7 million times by Thursday afternoon. 'What if? What if?' I had posted the video saying, 'Because of one video, the condition of the school was clearly seen. It has attracted the interest and attention of the federal and local governments.' He said that he is now optimistic that the school will be rebuilt.

All the classrooms of the school established in 2017 are dilapidated. Although there are nine rooms, all the windows and ventilation doors are broken. Water droplets are entering the classrooms, causing problems. During the rains, teaching and learning are disrupted. There are more than 200 students in the school, which teaches up to grade 7. All the rooms are old, dilapidated and in a state of collapse with tin roofs.

The school has 3 permanent teachers, one federally funded secondary school teacher, 3 volunteer teachers from the rural municipality, one private source, one child development worker and one office assistant. After the video went viral, the head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit and the rural municipality chairman Gopal Thapa monitored it. Chairman Thapa said that a plan has been made to build the school building as soon as possible.
