Nepal has participated in the prestigious 'Select USA Investment Summit', which is organized annually with the aim of promoting foreign direct investment in the United States. Five Nepali technology companies, including BizServ, SwiftFin, Kodavatar, Green Tick and EventMo, are participating in the conference held from May 3 to 6.
Participants said that Nepal's private sector participated with the aim of increasing partnerships in the US market, investment and technology. The American Chamber of Commerce Nepal (AmCham Nepal) said that it is holding discussions with US government officials, investors and economic development organizations at the conference.
The Nepali group met with officials from the US Department of State and the Ministry of Commerce at the program. At the program organized by the Nepali Embassy, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Bethany P. Morrison noted that the pace of economic cooperation between the two countries has increased after recent high-level visits. She said that the US is interested in developing the private sector and creating an investment-friendly environment in Nepal.
Acting Ambassador of Nepalese Embassy in the US Sharad Raj Aran expressed confidence in the potential and international expansion of Nepali companies. Kailash Vijayananda, President of MICHAM Nepal, said that the participation of Nepali companies will help them become competitive in the global market.
Nepali companies participating in the conference organized by the US Department of Commerce presented the potential of Nepal-made technology and skilled manpower to international investors. The delegation led by MICHAM Nepal Executive Director Amir Thapa is trying to identify Nepal as an emerging region for investment, innovation and trade partnerships, according to MICHAM.
The website states that the conference, which has been organized since 2013, has attracted billions of dollars in investment and has helped create thousands of jobs. Nepali IT entrepreneurs have expressed confidence that Nepal's digital capabilities and skills will be recognized by having direct dialogue with the world's largest investors and technology experts.
