According to the Department of Tourism, a large avalanche fell on the path where climbers and Sherpa guides were walking on a rotation from the base camp to the first and second camps at around 5:45 am. The injured in the incident were Pemba Tenduk Sherpa, 44, a mountain guide from Makalu in Sankhuwasabha, and Nimish Kumar Singh, 40, a climber from Pune, India.

After the accident, the Sherpa team of Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd. and Summit Force Expeditions immediately rescued them and informed them at the base camp. Then, a helicopter reached the spot from Lukla at 6:30 am in coordination with Seven Summit Trek Pvt. Ltd. and rescued the injured.

Both the injured have been brought to HAMs Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment. According to the temporary field office of the Department of Tourism at the Everest Base Camp, their condition is out of danger and they are receiving treatment.
