India has reacted to the 'diplomatic note' sent by the Nepal government regarding the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra to be started via Lipulekh.

The Ministry of External Affairs had sent a diplomatic note to India and China on Sunday, drawing their attention to the Mansarovar Yatra to be started unilaterally via Lipulekh, the Nepali territory, in coordination and agreement between India and China.

In response, Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India's position has always been clear and consistent, and that Lipulekh Pass has been a route that has been continuously used for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra since 1954.

'This is nothing new, India has been consistently maintaining that the claims made unilaterally are unjustified and not based on historical facts and evidence,' he said, 'Such unilateral claims are not acceptable to India.' The route to Kailash Mansarovar via Lipulekh is old: India

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri had stated in a diplomatic note that the Nepal government is completely clear and steadfast on the fact that Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani east of the Mahakali River are integral territories of Nepal. In response, India has stated that India is always ready for constructive dialogue on all issues of bilateral relations, including border issues that remain unresolved through talks and diplomacy.
