The identities of the deceased in the jeep accident in Jaljala, Rolpa have not been revealed yet. A jeep carrying pilgrims from Rukumkot, the eastern district headquarters of Rukum, met with an accident on Thursday. Twenty people were killed in the accident. One injured person has been discharged from the Rukum East District Hospital, said Police Inspector Sunil Thapa Nepali, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Rolpa. According to Police Inspector Nepali, it is confirmed that there are 4 children, 4 men and 12 women among the deceased, but their identities have not been revealed.

Assistant Chief District Officer of Rolpa, Ghanshyam Gautam, who was at the accident site, said that it took time to recover the bodies due to the difficult location.

'The jeep fell about 800 meters off the road. It is not possible to easily recover the bodies as it is in a gorge. Currently, security personnel are constructing a road. The body will then be removed with the help of ropes,' Assistant District Officer Gautam told Kantipur. According to him, although there were other locals from the same village in the jeeps that were in front of the jeep that met with the accident, the body could not be identified because it could not be removed on the road.

DSP Khumananda Pandey, Chief of Police at the District Police Office, Rukum East, said that there was a problem in identification as 2-3 vehicles went from Rukumkot to Jaljala on Thursday and it was not clear who was in which vehicle.

'We are coordinating with the Rolpa police. But the identity of the deceased has not been established yet,' says DSP Pandey. 'We are also trying to contact the families of those who went to Jaljala.'
