The government has used a dozer to clear the slums in the slums on the banks of the Bagmati River in Thapathali, Kathmandu. After the administration issued an 'Urdi' through miking to clear the slums, the residents who had been sheltering there for years had started vacating their homes since Friday.
A large number of security personnel were mobilized in the slums since Saturday morning to clear the slums as per the prior notification. A few hours later, the dozers were used in the slums. Five pieces of equipment, including two excavators from the Road Department, are demolishing the slums inside. Two loaders are on standby outside.

Even though the government has assured that the slums will be cleared and placed in lodges for the time being, the locals are not convinced.
The administration is preparing to keep the slum dwellers who have no other options at the Dasharath Stadium for collection of details. According to Joshi, only a mother and a child have gone to the stadium. "There is no one else, he also said he will call the guardian and go," he said.
