After the government decided to remove the squatter settlements, the victims have reached the ruling party's Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office to pressure them not to remove them. They had been protesting in Thapathali since morning, protesting the government's decision.
During the election rally, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) President Ravi Lamichhane had stated that he would beat his chest by driving a dozer into the squatter settlements.
They have urged the government to ensure their right to housing by saying that the dozer terror should stop. Some activists and stakeholders had reached Thapathali to support them.
On Thursday evening, the police had miked to evacuate the squatter settlements in Thapathali, Shankhamul, Shantinagar and Manohara areas.
The police have taken Narayan Sarsami, the chairman of the Sukumvasi United National Sukumvasi Morcha, into custody.
