Police have arrested former minister Bikram Pandey. He was arrested to investigate the incident of tampering with contract details by gaining unauthorized access to the Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) system.

AIG Manoj KC, chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), confirmed that the investigation was launched after taking former minister Pandey into custody from Chandol in Kathmandu. Pandey is the vice-chairman of the RPP. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had earlier filed a case against him on charges of corruption in the construction of the Sikta irrigation canal. However, he was acquitted by a special court after being released on bail.

Pandey is also the director of Kalika Construction Pvt. Ltd. Tanka Kumar Shrestha, the director of Gurung Construction Pvt. Ltd., has also been arrested along with him. He was arrested by the police from Samakhusi. Investigating officers claim that the financial proposal documents of the contract were changed to benefit Pandey and Shrestha's company before the financial proposal was opened. Earlier, the police had arrested six people in the same case on 25 Chaitra 2082. Those arrested were Diwakar Deuja of Dhankuta, Bharat Dhami of Bajhang, Sanjay Bhatta of Tanahun, Bhaskar Raj Aryal of Kathmandu, Sagar Katuwal of Makawanpur and Jeevan Kumar Das of Sunsari.

The Cyber Bureau under the CIB was investigating them. They are being investigated for offences under the Prevention of Organized Crime Act, 2070, said CIB spokesperson Shiva Kumar Shrestha.
