The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has prepared a draft of the Civil Service Bill with more than 50 new provisions, including the abolition of employee trade unions. The draft was prepared and made public on Friday.

According to the draft prepared after discussions by Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Pratibha Rawal and the employees of the ministry, the provision of employee trade unions, which has been in practice for almost three and a half decades, has been abolished. The provision has been removed in the draft saying that trade unions support party interests.

Joint Secretary Ekdev Adhikari, who was involved in the preparation of the draft, informed that although the provision of trade unions has been removed, other provisions have been included for the benefit of employees. According to him, it has been agreed to remove trade unions after analyzing the irregularities that have emerged based on long-term practice.
