Kantipur Media Group (KMG) Managing Director Sambhav Sirohia has resigned. He resigned with effect from Thursday, the message said.

Sirohia stated in his resignation that he was deeply dissatisfied with Kantipur's recent reporting - especially the news about Home Minister Sudhan Gurung. He said that the allegations were sensationalized and that he could not lead the transformation by linking his name to journalism that he did not trust.

Kantipur had obtained details of the then Home Minister Gurung's suspicious transactions from sources in the investigative agency and made them public. Until then, the news had covered the facts and unanswered questions mentioned in those details. But Sirohia stated in his resignation that Kantipur had weakened the new government by making unproven allegations before it could function.

On Thursday morning, Sirohia posted a link to a news story about the then Home Minister Gurung posted on social media by Kantipur Television on Facebook and Twitter, along with screenshots of related photos, and wrote, 'This mission looks like journalism, but I don't know whose mission it is.'

Stating that when he took over the leadership of KMG a few years ago, the organization's annual loss was more than 600 million rupees and that the company is profitable due to recent reforms, he wrote, 'I am proud of everyone who made this possible.'

Sirohia was appointed Managing Director of KMG on 1 Asoj 2080.
